The Kandy Perahera The Kandy Perahera or the Esala Perahera is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost religious celebrations. It has been recorded that the Perahera was held each year since the arrival of Buddha’s tooth relic to Sri Lanka. The Kandy Perahera is an elegant procession or parade that flaunts the various talents of the Kandyan people. The procession begins with the whip crackers announcing the commencement of the event. A group of men strategically crack their coir whips onto the ground to create a spark and notify the crowds about the beginning of the parade.    Biodiversity of Sri Lanka      The term Biodiversity is frequently being used these days while describing natural environment. Basically it provides information on living beings and their diversity respectively. Plant diversity is a result of evolution of over millions of years of plants which also include cultivated plants and artificially developed plants. It is well known that Sri Lanka is famous for its richness in biodiversity. One third of the country is covered with South West wet zone, which receives high rainfall which is highly favorable for plant life and is very rich in biodiversity. Even in the other climactic zones receive adequate amount of rainfall and well suited for plant growth. However the biodiversity is higher in natural habitats than other areas.
